Hey!

Redback presents a simple, three-piece show of sonic catharsis and the most exciting alt.rock music this side of the statue of liberty - tight and heavy, pure and loud. So welcome: crunch junkies, acolytes of melody, disciples of the bright new musical sunrise that is Redback - we've got love enough for you all...

We write our stuff so it's original. We don't think we sound like anyone you might know, but people have said we sound like Queens of the Stoneage, REM (huh??), Reef, and Nick Cave. We'd like to sound like the Dead Weather but then doesn't everyone (unfortunately there's only one Alison Mossart and we don't got no keys). Maybe make up your own mind about who we sound like 'cos no one else really makes sense.

Sure we want to play at your venue, so if you want to book us we'd love to hear from you - the contact details are at the bottom of this page.

In the meantime check us out at one of the following places (you've missed the greyed out dates):

Latest News

We recorded some new songs before christmas and now have them mixed to a  new demo CD. We played 6 songs back to back then re-recorded the vocals, which is a primitive but effective way to do things when all you want is to get something out as quickly as possible. Pedro mixed the whole thing almost single-handedly but unfortunately his engineering skills couldn't keep pace with his ambitions and the finished tracks leave something to be desired in terms of professional quality. But as Tim said (very wisely I thought) "doesn't matter dude, we're only making a demo".

Who?

The Redback machine is oiled by:
  • John Kilroy – gears, guitar and vocal.
  • Pierre Shepard – logic circuit, wheels and bass.
  • Tim "Timmie!" Trotter – most of the other moving parts including drums.
